Magnifier Loupe
Microscopes are expensive and standard magnifying glasses are okay, but a magnifier loupe, like jewelers use, is an inexpensive way to get a very good view of tiny pests, their larvae, and their eggs. These loupes are available from a number of sources and an online search will reveal many choices in the $5 to $10 range. Some even have a small light in the loupe, although this is not required for good viewing.
