Community Citrus Picking Day
If you don't have citrus trees growing in your yard, head for this event, where the whole family can enjoy harvesting citrus to take home. If you need advice on growing and maintaining citrus trees, City of Glendale Water Conservation and University of Arizona Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions. Special citrus-themed activities are planned for the kids. The event takes place at Sahuaro Ranch Park Historic Area, 9802 N. 59th Ave. Glendale, AZ on Saturday, January 22, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Free admission. Find directions to the park at http://www.glendaleaz.com/parksandrecreation/sahuaroranchpark.cfm.

Clever Gardening Technique

Create Your Own Seed Exchange
With so many intriguing heirloom and hybrid seed varieties available, it can be a challenge to choose among them. Most seed packets have 100 seeds, or many more, depending on the supplier. You can always save them to sow again another day, but by next season, you'll likely want to try some other options! Get together with gardening friends, decide who will buy what, and then share the contents of the seed packets. You'll be able to try more options without emptying your wallet.
