Steve Foltz Lecture
The Cincinnati Zoo is as well-known for its gardens as for its animals, and the person who makes it so beautiful is chief horticulturist Steve Foltz. Mr. Foltz will be speaking about the best annual and tropical plants for our gardens at Yew Dell Gardens in Crestwood, Kentucky, on February 11 at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $15 for Yew Dell members and $20 for nonmembers. For more information, go to http://www.yewdellgardens.org/events.

Books

Vegetables, Fruits, and Herbs
As more and more people are inspired to grow their own produce in these economically and environmentally challenged times, any number of food gardening books have become available. Among these is a book by one of the most experienced gardeners around. Jim W. Wilson has been involved in home and commercial horticulture for over 60 years. His wonderful Southern personality and great knowledge shines through in Homegrown Vegetables, Fruits, and Herbs (Creative Homeowner, 2009, $16.95). Besides the great amount of information presented in a simple-to-understand and straightforward way, there are 275 inspiring color photographs from Walter Chandoha, who has been specializing in garden photography for over 40 years.
