The Kitchen Garden Grower's Guide
The no-nonsense The Kitchen Garden Grower's Guide, by Stephen Albert (BookSurge Publishing, 2008) is one of the most complete guides out there for the kitchen gardener. Albert gives descriptions of over seventy vegetables and herbs, with complete information about growing, harvesting, troubleshooting, and selecting the right variety for your use. He also gives suggestions for kitchen use, although the book does not contain any recipes.

Favorite or New Plant

Magnolia 'Yellow Lantern'
This beautiful pale yellow-flowered magnolia is a magnificent focal point in the landscape. It is an upright, oval-shaped tree that grows to about 25 feet. It thrives in full sun to some shade, and adapts easily to most soils. The best features are the large, cup-shaped, creamy yellow blossoms.
