Help Gather Information about Viburnum Leaf Beetle
Viburnum leaf beetle (VLB) has already caused considerable damage to both native and cultivated plants, and researchers need help to determine the extent of the problem. To that end, Cornell Cooperative Extension created a "Citizen Science" appeal to residents in the Northeast. Participating is easy -- just scan the Web pages for information and photos of the beetle, then keep your eyes peeled for the pest. If you find evidence of VLB, use their online form to send them the details. Adults emerge and begin to feed in mid to late summer, so it's a good time to dive in and help out. For more information, go to the Citizen Science page: http://www.hort.cornell.edu/VLB/
