San Francisco Botanical Garden Society presents "The Botany of Nests," a photographic exhibition by Sharon Beals. The exhibition is open to the public daily, April 1 through June 30, 2009, at the Helen Crocker Russell Library of Horticulture, located at San Francisco Botanical Garden, in Golden Gate Park.
Sharon Beals is a San Francisco photographer whose work has included native plants and their pollinators and beautiful images of roses taken at the Rose Garden in Golden Gate Park. Beals' interest in the natural world inevitably led her to the wonder of birds' nests. She hopes to engage a larger audience than "birders" about those builders and their survival needs. Trees for Children
The Davey Tree Company sent me a delightful children's book titled; Treetures Welcome Spring!, by by Megan E. Bryant, author, and Paul E. Nunn, illustrator (Grosset & Dunlap, 2008). The book uses the magical characters contained therein to teach how trees grow and thrive and earn "green hearts" by learning about the interdependence of trees, humans and other animals. The message in the book is about environmental stewardship and I was requested to pass my copy long to a local school or library, but not before I shared it with you!
