Clever Gardening Technique

Use Old Windows to Thaw Soil
Forage second-hand shops or grandma's garage for old windows. Placing them carefully on garden soil, even before the snow melts will start the thawing process. Sprinkle lettuce and spinach seeds beneath, and as soon as the snow melts, the seeds will start germinating for the earliest possible salads. All you have to do is mark where they are in case we get late-spring snows. You don't want to cruise across them in haste.
