Gardening Month by Month in New England
Gardening Month by Month in New England, by Alison Beck (Lone Pine Publishing, 2004) is a handy combination of calendar and guide, with color photos for inspiration. The entire book is a calendar, with just a few days on each page, with information about what to do when. For example, on March 8 there's a heading "Seeds to start indoors now" heading and a list of what to start. There are plenty of tips and techniques throughout, too.

Favorite or New Plant

Bells of Ireland
I'm growing lots of Bells of Ireland (Moluccella laevis) this year to use in bouquets. It's so eye-catching, with the unusual, bell-shaped, light green flowers hugging the tall stalks. The flowers are long-lasting in a vase and can be dried, too.
