Although almost any book on succulents also deals with cactus, you might just be surprised and take up with both. Cacti and Succulents: An Illustrated Guide to the Plants and their Cultivation, by Graham Charles (Crowood Press, 2007) is designed for beginners through experts and has clear, concise information on cultivation and propagation. The book is filled with beautiful photos and contains quite a large selection of species.
