Science News for Kids
Interested in learning how to "worm grunt," understanding hybrid cars, or knowing more about why babies learn language so easily? Though the Science News for Kids Web site is for "kids," adults will likely find info interesting too. Created by the Society for Science and the Public, it has many interactive sections -- LabZone, SciFiZone, TeacherZone.... Even the home page captures attention quickly with "The Weekly Scoop" and "Science Snapshots."

Enviro College Student Correspondent Opportunity
As part of its January launch, the Mother Nature Network is partnering with YouTube to select one student from each major U.S. college to be a MNN correspondent. MNN is a new mainstream environmental news and information site (http://www.mnn.com). Each winning correspondent will become a highlighted contributor with her or his video program or blog for a nationwide audience. They'll report on campus and community issues.

Contestants can audition by submitting a two- to four-minute video to http://www.youtube.com/mnn or a 500-word blog to http://mothernaturenetwork.blogspot.com/2008/10/announcing-mnns-college-contest.html. Contest ends January 15.
