American Iris Society
If you are getting motivated to add more iris to your perennial garden, or if you're just starting from scratch, visit the American Iris Society Web site. The society is a reliable source of information for helping you select from the thousands of varieties. My suggestion is to start with those that have won the Dykes Memorial Medal, awarded by the society only after rigorous standards are met. You'll find lots of other helpful tips, too.
Clever Gardening Technique
Dealing With Whiteflies
As the tomato season winds down, whiteflies can be a major pain. Trap them with yellow sticky boards. You can easily make these traps by cutting 8- to 10-inch cardboard discs and spraying them with a bright yellow, fast-drying paint. Allow to dry, staple to wooden stakes, and coat with petroleum jelly. Set up around your tomato plants; good-bye whiteflies!
