Make Mosaic Garden Art
If the idea of turning trashed ceramics into yard art intrigues you, check out this News Tribune Home/Garden page. Writing for the Tacoma newspaper's online edition, Debbie Travis covers the basics of creating a mosaic garden table, giving good references and inspiration.
HGTV.com also has plenty of how-to's on making mosaics for outdoors, including several made from debris.
From Barbara Ellis comes a fine little tome, The Veggie Gardener's Answer Book (Storey Books, 2008; $14.95) There are 400+ pages of real world questions and smart answers. What does insecticidal soap do? How can I set up a simple reservoir? There's even a section on flowers that encourage beneficial insects to frequent your garden. It's a no-brainer to add this to your bookshelf, even though it's not written specifically for our region.
