Arbor Day
The Arbor Day Web site is filled with helpful information on choosing and planting trees. Their "Right Tree in the Right Place" page will help you decide what size and type of tree is best for your yard. Their Tree Guide is a searchable database of trees for easy reference. There's also abundant information on planting and caring for trees, plus some fun facts, too.

Clever Gardening Technique

Use Branches in Bouquets
Twigs from trees with attractive foliage or form can be used in cut flower arrangements. Purple-leaved smoketree stems are a beautiful addition to a zinnia or sunflower bouquet, for example. Strip the leaves off corkscrew willow branches and use the contorted twigs in arrangements to add height and drama. Use care when taking cuttings to avoid distorting the tree's form.
