Visit Gardens While on Vacation
Traveling this summer? Find out what's going on in your vacation spot by visiting National Gardening Association's Events Calendar at: http://www.garden.org/eventCalendar/. You can search by date and/or locale. Or find the nearest public garden by searching the Public Gardens Locator at: http://www.garden.org/public_gardens/.

Donate Extra Harvests
Many of us end up with more food than we can eat from our gardens. After all, just how many beans and zucchini can a person eat? So if you find yourself with extra fruits and vegetables this summer, consider donating the extra. Rising food prices are resulting in unprecedented traffic at community food banks. The Garden Writers Association's Plant a Row for the Hungry program encourages gardeners to plant extra and donate the surplus to those in need. If you'd like to donate fresh produce to a local food assistance program, contact the national program coordinator by calling (877) 492-2727 (toll-free); or e-mailing: PAR@gwaa.org; or go to: http://www.gardenwriters.org/par/Donationlinks.html for a list of regional coordinators.
