Kitchen Gardens For Us
At last, a handy reference for the potager gardens in our region. Most of us have them, even if we don't recognize the name at first. The Southern Kitchen Garden, by the wise Texas horticulturists William D. Adams and Thomas R. Leroy (Taylor Trade Publishing, 2007; $19.95), covers a wide variety of the vegetables, herbs, and flowers we grow. It is full of good information for their home state and those to the east. Really! This one covers the territory and goes into depth with chart planting times, frost dates (with percentages), and better variety descriptions than any catalog. This book is a must-have.
