2008 Perennial Plant of the Year
Beautiful, adaptable, and easy to grow, the hardy geranium cultivar 'Rozanne' is a worthy recipient of the Perennial Plant Association's designation as the Perennial Plant of the Year. Its attributes include bearing 2-1/2-inch, violet-blue flowers above vigorous mounds of dark green leaves for much of the summer. Check this Web page for more about the heritage and appearance of 'Rozanne', as well as information about cultivation, maintenance, and landscape uses.

Unifork
Sometimes I rush out and get the latest thing as soon as it's introduced, while at other times I take a wait-and-see approach. The Unifork fits into that latter category, but it is now on my "things to buy" list for this year as I learn more about its merits. English-made, the Unifork is, essentially, a safer modern version of the venerable pitchfork, with the wide tines made of lightweight, high-grade polypropylene so it's strong and durable yet resistant to rot and corrosion. The Unifork's unique curved shape allows it to scoop more easily under materials. The tapered and profiled tines guide the material into the high back of the Unifork, allowing large loads to be moved. All of these qualities make it perfect for turning compost and moving hardwood mulch, which will be the primary objectives for its purchase. For those who appreciate whimsy, another of the Unifork's merits is that it is available in Country Green, Baby Blue, Hot Pink, and Fiery Red. The Unifork is available from Union Jack Stable & Garden at: http://www.unionjackstable.com.
