Winecups
As you plan your water-wise garden this year, consider one of my favorite ground covers. Winecups (Callirhoe involucrate) grows to a height of 4 to 6 inches and will spread to 3 feet. It does best in full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Well-drained garden loam soil is best, but it will adapt to our wide range of soils. Enjoy the show of wine-red flowers from April to the first hard frost.
