Japanese Hori-Hori Knife
There could be no simpler tool than the Japanese Hori-Hori knife. The heavy blade is sharpened on one side and serrated on the other. Its concave shape is helpful for scooping soil or prying without bending. I use it for digging up a spot for planning transplants, removing established perennial weeds, cutting through roots, and many other basic gardening chores.
