Square Foot Gardening
Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew (Rodale Press, 1981; $17), is a classic in gardening literature. It's as relevant today as it was when first printed.

This easy-read book with straightforward, practical advice, includes information on how to use succession planting to maximize the use of garden space and extend the season. It also gives good advice for improving your garden's soil and has planting charts based on frost dates. I refer to it over and over again.

Growing Herbs
Growing Herbs Web site from Auburn University is an excellent reference on herb growing. It includes an extensive chart of herbs listing the family, plant type, height, spacing, form, light requirement, bloom time, foliage color, flower color, uses, and maintenance notes. This site will help any gardener become a successful grower of herbs.
