Lupine
One of the highlights of the perennial garden is the blooming of the lupines. The tall, upright flower stalks come in a variety of colors that draw the attention of the bumble bees. The hybrids offered today come in solid and bicolors to add interest to any garden. Just remember to plant in a compost-enriched soil that is well drained. Deadhead old flower spikes to encourage more blooms later into the season. For the aphids: invite more ladybugs into the garden or wash off these pests as soon as they appear.
