Herb Festival
The Quail Botanic Gardens in Encinitas will hold its 5th Annual Herb Festival June 16-17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be lectures, demonstrations, food samples, herb walks, and tours of the entire gardens. If you have the time, go on the whole-garden tour to see the 30 acres of intensively planted natives, exotics, bamboo, shady moist canyons, and sunny dry hillside plantings. For more information, call (760) 436-4036.

Cornell Composting Site
This is the beginning, middle, and end of composting as developed and collected through Cornell University. It has great grouping of subtopic areas, including "weird and unusual composting" under "Composting in Schools." There are excellent links to technical and home gardener electronic, written, and audio-visual information, listserves, and discussion groups.
