Earth Day Network
The Earth Day Network has information about how to get involved in planet stewardship, how to get children involved, Earth Day events going on across the nation, and what's going on in Washington. One of the specific efforts is to encourage everyone having an Earth Day event to make it carbon neutral. The site has a calculator to figure out what carbon emissions will be used for your event so you can encourage participants to make an equal contribution to offset their emissions. Donations can be made to fund carbon reduction projects, such as wind farms, methane-generated electricity, solar power, and energy efficiency.

Clever Gardening Technique

Garlic Aphid Spray
Mince or mash several cloves of garlic and boil them in a pint of water. Let the mixture steep and cool for a couple of hours. Strain the mixture and put the liquid in a spray bottle (and the leftover garlic on your compost pile). Spray on new shoots and flower buds to keep aphids at bay.
