For The Birds!, a Web page by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, has extensive information about backyard birding. Topics range from which species like which seed to improving bird habitat to building a birdhouse to landscaping for birds. Most of the information is free. Pamphlets focus on topics from how to attract birds to common problems with backyard feeding. Download free pamphlets.

Penn Hort/Penn State Tree Tenders Training
Have an affinity for trees? Starting March 29, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Pennsylvania State Cooperative Extension offer free Tree Tenders Training (for residents of Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery counties). The nine-hour training covers tree biology, identification, planting, proper care, fundraising, and facilitating community/local government involvement. March 29, April 5 & 12 in Telford; April 17, 24, and May 1 in Ambler; May 16, 23, 30 at PHS in Philadelphia. Registration required.
