Garden Rant
Ok, now that you've ordered your seeds and plants, repotted all your houseplants, and readied your supplies for the seed-starting race in a few weeks, what to do? How about joining fellow online garden ranters? This Garden Rant site features the rants of four gardeners and writers with varied backgrounds who display irreverence and strong viewpoints along with their obsession for plants. Sit down for a minute to check it out and I guarantee it will entertain you for ... well, how long do you have?

Favorite or New Plant

Asiatic Lilies
My favorite cut flowers this winter are Asiatic lilies. I now know when different florists get their deliveries and where to find particular colors. Because I am particular. Sometimes I'm in a yellow mood, other times I like bolder colors -- plum or deep orange or rose. The flowers can last two weeks in a vase if you buy stems with some buds. Since they lack fragrance, they don't offend anyone in the household. If you like mixed bouquets, try combining them with Alstroemeria, which come in many different colors, and some seeded eucalyptus.
