Kids Cook at Brookside Gardens
Here's a Saturday morning change of pace for children: Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallan Ave., Wheaton, Maryland, holds a Kids Cooking Class on Jan. 6, 13, 20, and 27, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Junior chef Angela Zeidenberg guides children in nutritious food preparation, reading recipes, measuring ingredients, as well as manners and dining etiquette. Fee $60; registration required. For info, call (301) 962-1400, or visit: http://www.mc-mncppc.org/parks/brookside/.

Ready, Set, Farm Stay
How about a back-to-nature holiday ... on a family farm? Watch bison, alpacas, and elk on working farms. Feed chickens. Help your children milk goats. Rent a 10-room farmhouse for a family reunion. Stay at a celery farm! Swim in a koi pond. Relax in a rocker on an Amish porch. Do you and your family appreciate fresh eggs, meat, vegetables, and country air? Several of the affordable Pennsylvania Family Farm stays, even romantic getaways, on this Pennsylvania Agritourism Web site appealed to me. Now, which ones are organic?
