International Seed Saving Institute
The International Seed Saving Institute Web site is a great source for information about saving seeds as well as about the projects the institute is involved with. Their sister site, Seeds Trust, is a source for heirloom, native, vegetable, and all types of organic seeds.

Favorite or New Plant

Aster 'Professor Kippenburg'
Now is the ideal time to appreciate the lovely 'Professor Kippenburg' aster, with its clear purple-blue blossoms and golden centers. It begins blooming in mid-September in the Midwest and continues through the first frost. The plants grow to about 15 inches and don't need the late-spring pinch to keep them compact. It will grow in full sun to partial shade in average garden soil with some organic matter. A must-have for fall color in the perennial border!
