Slow Food Asheville
On Sunday, September 17th, from 4 to 9 p.m., Slow Food Asheville will hold its celebration and fundraiser for Western North Carolina delegates to the international Slow Food conference in Turin. The celebration, hosted by the Hawk and Ivy B&B, will feature locally grown and raised foods, grilled meats prepared on-site, dishes by area chefs, artisanal breads, cheeses, and regional beers and wines. There will be live music and a silent auction, too. Ticket donations are $30 a person. For more information, visit Slow Food Asheville: http://www.slowfoodasheville.org. Buy a Chest Freezer
I love my big freezer. I've already frozen 3 gallons of blueberries and have two more on the counter waiting for me. I've got a bushel of peaches on the porch, too. Purchase fresh produce from local farms and freeze it to enjoy all winter long. Almost any fruit, herb, or vegetable can be frozen using the right technicque.
