Water Reservoirs for Shrubs
Empty plastic milk jugs or liter soda bottles make handy water reservoirs for newly planted trees and shrubs. Poke or drill holes in the bottoms and lower sides of the jugs, and bury three or more in the planting hole, leaving the top openings an inch above the soil level. Fill the jugs using a hose when you water the plant and it will slowly seep into the soil.
