Bluebird Web Sites
The North American Bluebird Society Web site tells you everything you need to know about bluebirds, including plans for building nesting boxes. The North Carolina Bluebird Society is dedicated to "ensuring the future of the Eastern Bluebird and other cavity-nesting birds native to North Carolina."

The Eastern Bluebird page of Cornell University's All About Birds Web site not only provides lots of information, it also has a recording of the bluebird's song.

Clever Gardening Technique

Landscaping for the Birds
In addition to providing nesting boxes, consider adding berry-producing plants to your landscape to provide food for bluebirds and other winter dwellers. Focus on plants that retain their fruits through fall and winter. Good choices include dogwood, elderberry, eastern red cedar, holly, serviceberry, bayberry, and rose varieties that produce abundant hips.
