Swan Neck Hoe
My favorite weeder is a swan neck hoe. The angled blade and long handle lets me weed standing up, which is a back-saver. The blade is tapered to each end so it easily reaches into tight spots (although I have, on occasion, sliced something unintentionally). I've never had to sharpen the blade and it's still slicing and dicing quite well. You can turn a pointed end of the blade into the soil to dig down and catch the roots of a well-established weed, but the tool is most useful for skimming just below the soil surface to snag the annual weeds that pop up overnight.
