Water Garden Plants
Each category of water plants, including water lilies, lotus, submerged, floating, and marginals, are discussed in their own chapter in the Encyclopedia of Water Garden Plants, by Greg and Sue Speichert (Timber Press, 2004; $49.95). For each category, there is information about proper soil, planting, and climate requirements, plus descriptions of hundreds of individual species and cultivars with many full-color photographs. Useful appendices list plants for special places.

Water Garden Symposium
The International Water Lily and Water Gardening Society is holding their annual symposium July 20-26 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Lectures topics include how to grow water lilies, aquatic plant pests and diseases, invasive plants, photographing aquatics, and designing wetlands. Plus there will be informal discussion groups and forums. Tours include visiting Longwood Gardens as well as smaller public and private gardens.
