Christo Brings The Gates to Central Park
World-renowned installation artist, Christo, and his wife, Jeanne-Claude, bring "The Gates" to New York's Central Park from February 12th to 27th. Billowing saffron yellow-colored fabric arches or banners will be spaced along 23 miles of pathway through the park for two scant weeks in February. I am really looking forward to this once-in-a-lifetime event that has been decades in the making. I think the color will look splendid against the tree branches and winter sky in this ultimate urban park setting, and there is nothing like a walk through the park on a winter day -- be it sunny or gray -- for lifting the spirits. The Cactus and Succulent Society of America (CSSA)
The Cactus and Succulent Society of America (CSSA) Web site offers information about its activities, journal, related events and conventions, and seed sales, as well as contact information for its many affiliates and links to additional Web sites. Many of these local club sites offer exquisite photos -- quite the feast for our winter eyes.
