Web Finds

Gardens of the Moghul
This new Smithsonian Web site about Gardens of the Moghul (or as you might have learned, "Mongol" or "Mogul") is unique. It provides a fascinating glimpse of the intertwining of gardens, art, and architecture in an awesome time and place. There are maps, descriptions, and photo tours; snapshots of floral wall paintings, frescos, and tile work; large-scale views of water features, terraces, and imposing gates; and helpful diagrams. Sadly, not too many plants can be seen today, but we may imagine the past grandeur with the help of contemporary art and writings. This is a site still under development with many additions to come. I am looking forward to them!
