Diablo Ninebark
Hardy to Zone 2, the diablo ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius 'Diablo') is a tough landscape shrub with lovely, maroon-black foliage, creamy white flowers and reddish fruit. Plant it in full sun for maximum leaf effect, but it will adapt to many situations. It's easily transplanted and can grow to 10 feet tall and wide. Most gardeners, however, prune it to keep it smaller and to force new darker growth with large leaves.
