Although there have been dozens of books written on winter gardens, few remain in print. Of those still being published, look for The Winter Garden: Plants That Offer Color and Beauty in Every Season of the Year, by Rita Buchanan (Houghton Mifflin, 1997; $12.95). For the more adventurous who are willing to search out used books (especially on the Internet) some of the ones to look for include The Unsung Season: Gardens and Gardeners in Winter, by Sydney Eddison (Houghton Mifflin, 1995); Winter Garden Glory: How to Get the Best from Your Garden from Autumn Through to Spring, by Adrian Bloom (HarperCollins, 1994); My Garden in Autumn and Winter, by Edward A. Bowles (Timber Press, 1998); and Gardens in Winter, by Elizabeth Lawrence (Claitor's Law Books and Publishing, 1973).
