Grow String Beans With Tomatoes for Superb Beans
I'm not sure what the physiological reason is, but I have the best luck growing pole beans on a trellis along with cherry tomatoes. Beans grown by themselves have problems with cucumber beetles, flea beetles, and other critters, but beans grown with tomatoes seem to be problem-free.
