Favorite or New Plant

Perennial Flax (Linum perenne)
Delicate, yet simple, sky blue flowers make perennial flax (Linum perenne) one of my all-time favorites. It's very prolific if you let it self-sow. The wiry, often-arching, narrow, bluish green foliage provides an airy appearance among the other perennial flowers. Individual, simple, blue blooms open to the heavens on sunny days, but begin to close by late afternoon and drop to the ground. Since so many new buds are forming, new flowers appear every day so you don't notice this natural thinning process. Plant in full sun to partial shade, and make sure the soil is well drained. It will soon become a favorite in some area of your landscape.
