Rock Gardening in Raleigh
Our region is not known for its rock gardens, but it soon will be. The Piedmont Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society is hosting the organization's annual meeting May 5 to 8 in Research Triangle Park, NC, just outside Raleigh. For information on speakers and bus tours of seven outstanding private and public gardens, check out the conference Web site: http://www.nargs.org/meet/May04Conf/index.htm.

Web Finds

Outstanding Plants
Each year the Tennessee Department of Agriculture works with other horticulture groups to come up with a list of outstanding plants that deserve space in every garden. This year's list of New Plants for 2004 includes gomphrena, dianthus, oregano, butterfly bush, and serviceberry. Past year's winners are indexed by plant type (annuals, perennials, herbs, shrubs, and trees).
