Exchange Place Spring Garden Fair
Among the many spring garden festivals taking place in our region, one of the most inspiring is set for April 24 and 25 at the historic Exchange Place farm in Kingsport, Tennessee. The plant sale at this restored 1850s farm will include herbs, heirloom plants, and many natives, and it's always fun to shop in the company of live music while sampling good things to eat. Favorite or New Plant
Pretty Puschkinia
I love this little bulb, which blooms at the same time as grape hyacinths and tulips. It's been around since 1805, and some folks call it striped squill. Native to Asia Minor, puschkinia (P. scilloides libanotica) naturalizes easily in partial shade, and it's ignored by deer and squirrels. If you're looking for more little bulbs to add to your garden, plant some of these 4 inches deep next fall. You'll be glad you did!
