The Inward Garden
Since it's a bit too early to lose yourself in your garden, here's a thoughtful book that you can lose yourself in. The Inward Garden: Creating a Place of Beauty and Meaning, by Julie Moir Messervy (Little, Brown & Co., 1995; $45) will guide you in creating a garden that's evocative of places that provided both comfort and freedom to you as a child. The author uses archetypes, such as the cave, the sea, and the harbor, to help you think about different spaces in your garden in new ways. It's a fascinating approach toward creating a garden that truly reflects you.

Gardening Meetup
Gardening Meetup is a site to help gardeners meet other gardeners in their neck of the woods -- or corner of the city -- to "dish some dirt." You put in your zip code and can find where meetups are happening near you. The third Thursday of every month is a gardening meetup day, so there's one coming up.
