Trees Are Good!
Violent summer storms recently took down numerous trees and branches in our area. Some of that danger and damage could have been avoided if the trees had received proper care over the years. (By proper care, I do not mean topping. Topping does not make trees safe -- in fact it can make them more dangerous!) The International Society of Arborists has created a Tree Care Information site to help homeowners learn about better tree care. While it helps identify hazardous trees, it also covers selecting, buying, planting, protecting, and caring for both young and older trees so you can avoid problems in the first place. If you have trees on your property, you probably ought to take a look.
