    According to IPNI G. aristata was collected by Meriwether Lewis in Montana, July 1806. This is approximately three months before the end of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The plant was described in 1813 by Friedrich Traugott Pursch.

    One of my favorites. Starts blooming in spring and goes all summer long here. Very colorful low bloomer. Happy with dry soil conditions. Easy to grow from seed.
