Mini Greenhouse from Old Floppy Disk Storage Cases

You remember floppy disks (if not, ask your parents). Everyone had them and saved copies of backup disks in these boxes . Well, it's time to give them a new life as mini greenhouses. (156 words - Read the full article)

Protecting the Pollen! (...and the Pods?)

Every morning during daylily season, it has been a race to get to the daylilies and get their pollen before the marauding carpenter bees swoop in and steal it. Here is how I finally foiled them. (807 words - Read the full article)

Not All Morning Glories Are Thugs; Some Are Very Friendly!

Many gardeners hate morning glories, thinking they are invasive and can take over the garden, especially purpureas. They can be troublesome if not controlled, but it's easy to keep them from getting out of control. (433 words - Read the full article)

Some new reviews from the Green Pages:

csandt recommended Sterrett Gardens and wrote:

I received eight double fans of daylilies (five different cultivars) from Sterrett Gardens today, two days after they were shipped. All of the plants were generous in size and were a very healthy shade of green. This was my first order from Sterrett Gardens, and I could not have been more pleased.

plantladylin recommended Perfect Plants and wrote:

I just received 4 Drift Roses from Perfect Plants as a prize from the August Not a Raffle Raffle. I'm very pleased with the perfect packaging and speed of delivery. The gallon size pots were encased in plastic bags with moist paper around the base of the plants and cable ties around the plastic to keep the soil contained. They also included precise planting instructions and 4 small packets of fertilizer to use when planting as well as a 20% coupon ... now I can order the Azaleas that I've been eyeing on their website! I highly recommend this company and I'm sure that I will continue to be a satisfied customer. Thank you Perfect Plants!

Docwas recommended Victory Seed Company and wrote:

I purchased Blue Lake, Wright Strain pole beans to plant in my fall garden in central Texas. I placed them between several layers of wet paper towels overnight and then planted in my Square Foot Garden. The package indicated 8-16 days germination. By day 3, I had two squares (nine plants each) that had 100% germination, and by day 5 the other two squares also show 100% germination. When I originally placed the seed between the moist paper towels, I had placed 16 extra seeds with the 36 I planted, suspecting that I wouldn't get 100% germination. I checked those 16 seeds on day 3, and they had all sprouted, so I took those to a different part of my garden and planted them too. Two days later, all 16 of those seeds have now broken through the soil. This is the best germination rate I have ever gotten. Victory Seed Company will be my choice from now on.

treehugger recommended Green Mountain Hosta Nursery and wrote:

I agree this is a wonderful place to order healthy hostas. The packing was perfect. After an order has been placed, the plants arrive within a very short time. A wonderful place to order from.

Xylona recommended Colorblends and wrote:

If the color catalog doesn't entice you to grow spring bulbs, nothing will. They are masters at matching complementary colors. Very informative as well, they make an interesting point when they compare the cost of planting your own versus a florist's bouquet. They blend early, mid, and late tulips to give you a long display of color. I planted the Red Cubed mixture and got weeks and weeks of enjoyment from 100 bulbs. My only regret was not doubling the order. The picture is the Pillow Talk collection.
