By kytnbabe July 11, 2016 | Stop Snakes Invading Purple Martin Houses My parents had stored berry/bird netting a couple of years ago and decided to get it out to cover strawberries. They found two big chicken snakes caught in it. My dad cut the dead snakes out of the netting and put the bird netting over the strawberries. Another snake was entangled. Hey! Bright idea! I received two orchids from Ken. Excellent packing ensured they arrived in great shape even when the shipper mangled the box. This was such a smooth transaction. They shipped quickly and were well prepared beforehand, having been watered before shipping and then carefully wrapped. All questions and concerns were answered very quickly; it's nice to know he's just an e-mail away if I have questions or concerns. And the prices are great!
Love this company, and love all the history it gives about seeds and seed companies. I actually found this company by researching the history of tomatoes and Daylilies. I'm kind of new to gardening, although I came from a lineage of gardeners. This company really inspired me to keep a legacy alive, in honor of my grandmother, who actually passed away gardening in her own flower garden. Thanks, Victory Seed.
With the milkweed population reduced to a small fraction of what it used to be only a few years ago, we all need to take a sober look at our practices. Planting milkweed in your garden is a small start for conservation. This interesting book is just crammed full with beautiful photographs! It definitely gave me a greater appreciation of this beautiful plant, its many varieties, and the wonderland of amazing insects making this plant their home.
Absolutely stunning daylilies! I joined the American Hemerocallis Society and in so doing got a coupon for Maryott's. I ordered seven cultivars and received four bonus ones. They also sent two of the seven I ordered. They were all at least double and mostly triple fans! Truly stunning!
I have never placed an online order with Valley Of The Daylilies before, and just as I was about to make my first one, I realized that they were in driving distance. I was fortunate enough to make my trip during their open house, on my birthday. The Bachmans were all friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. For the price of what I would have paid for trimmed fans from an online seller, I received big, beautiful clumps, two of which are currently in bloom, and one -- Bobbing For Poodles -- which will be blooming soon. One of my clumps is so large and dense, I have no idea how many fans are in it, but there are five scapes blooming right now. They were also kind enough to offer me a gift for my birthday, though honestly just having the chance to wander through their gorgeous daylilies was enough of a present. Seeing these amazing plants among all of the short, trimmed fans that I've ordered online -- which I won't get to see bloom until next season -- I don't think I ever want to buy daylilies anywhere else. I will definitely make another trip there, and I cannot recommend them highly enough!
Hidden Springs Peony Farm is an incredible resource for anyone that loves peonies. The owners run a great operation. They have a vast amount of peonies available for mail order or pick up. They are a huge reservoir of knowledge of all things peonies. I will definitely order from them again.
I've always had great luck with Josh at In the Country Garden and Gifts. He always acknowledges your order and gives pertinent information as to when it will be shipped or if they cannot ship right away and why. The plants have always had a robust root system and have been extremely well packed. I would highly recommend In the Country Garden and Gifts.
I agree with Australis. Tonkins is a lovely, specialist nursery for harder-to-find bulbs within Australia. Highly recommended!
