Botanical Printing Workshop by Leonore Alaniz Smith College Botanic Garden Where: 16 College Lane Northampton, MA 01063 Date(s): Saturday, November 10, 2012 — Saturday, November 10, 2012 Hours: 9:00am to 1:00pm Description: Botanical Printing introduces the technique of nature printing as applied to plants - a technique of direct ink application to an object and imprinting it on paper. The artist uses this technique to explore the intricate textures and patterns that are found in the botanical world and are otherwise often overlooked. There will be a workshop with the artist on November 10, 2012 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, where participants will learn how to make their own botanical prints and become engaged with the process. This workshop entails a short history of botanical print making, with a hands-on session on preparing plants, inking them with water soluble non-toxic inks, and then making prints. The workshop is $60 for non-members and $50 for Smith College students and members. There is a limit of 12 participants to each workshop and materials are covered in the fee. To reserve a space in the workshop, please call (413)-585-2742 before paying the workshop fee. A second workshop on November 11, 2012 at 10:00 am to 1:00 pm may be offered if additional space is needed.
