Trellis for kiwi

I will be planting a pair of kiwi (Hayward)as soon as they arrive from the seed company. I read on this site that for optimal fruit production, a "T" shaped trellis is recommended. Does this mean a single upright with a cross piece at the top, and nothing else, or do I need to supply wire or twine for it to climb on? What size should the trellis be? I would appreciate any advice.
