How much of this "real" soil did you add and how deep was it tilled in? -

-I tilled and tilled, added "real" soil (a compost, etc. mix from the garden store) tilled some more, etc. And then it rained, and rained and the next morning some areas of my garden had puddles. How do I remedy to ensure my seeds sprout and prevent my plants from drowning?
JBF,
Can totally relate, it has been raining on and off here in Zone 7. Maybe you could get some straw or some type of beneficial mulch that could help absorb some of the liquid. That might also help your soil stay a little more stable and not wash away.
