indoor palm tree

My wife has palm tree in 2 ft high pot. Stem is only 3/8 to 1/2 inch in diameter . The foliage at top keeps leaning over. The plant is 5-6 feet tall. Can we cut the top off to make it bushier?

    There are many different kinds of palms and several other kinds of plants that are mistakenly called palms. I would have to know just what you have to give you a proper answer. If you email a photo to me at wcreed@HorticulturalHelp.com, I can probably identify it for you. Include your question along with the photo (my memory is short!)
