-I'm a novice gardener and recently relocated from North Carolina to Kaiserslautern Germany. This is in the southwestern portion of the country in the Rhineland-Pfalz region. The language barrier is making my search for a planting guide difficult. I'm anxious to find out which of my favorite vegetables are suitable to this region as well as the appropriate times to plant them. Can anyone direct me to such a resource that is available in English?
Well, here is a zone map for Europe that shows the corresponding zone number for the US.

Here is another zone map that might help.

There is a WONDERFUL site called The Garden Web. They have forums on just about any topic you can think of. They have several European Gardening sites, but none in Germany. Here is my suggestion. I looked around and it seems that there is a 'European Garden Exchange' where people exchange seeds and plants in Europe. Also where I got the second zone map from an American requesting it who is living in Heidelberg. You might want to post your question there. Here is the URL. You must register in order to post there. I am registered as Newt in the main forum and you could do a search at the site if you like. Look around the main forums page for the link to search for members.

Here is the link to their main forums page for the US that you can click on. Look around here, as there are probably some that might be helpful such as 'Vegetable Gardening', 'Soil, Compost & Mulch', 'Edible Landscape', 'Growing Tomatoes', 'Herbs' and the list goes on. Do be sure and change the title of your post if you are asking the same question on more than one forum so their computer won't think you are spamming and block you out.
Good luck,
Newt
