I would like a new lawn in my backyard. I have mostly shade and I do have dogs, so I'll need something tough and shade tolerant. Any suggestions? I am planning on hardscaping their frequently used paths, but would like some lawn.

    Grasses for shade

    There are few grasses that do well in shade, they need sunlight, but some cultivars of fescues have been bred to be more shade tolerant just not traffic tolerant. Check with your local USDA Extension Service office for information about shade tolerant grass cultivars that do best in Tennessee.
